Acrylic signage HS Code description
Acrylic signage harmonized system code
Product Overview Acrylic signage classified under HS Code 940569 refers to display and advertising panels fabricated primarily from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) sheets, engineered for durability, optical clarity, and ease of customization. These products typically exhibit thicknesses ranging from 2 mm to 10 mm, with high-impact resistance and UV-stabilized surfaces to prevent discoloration and degradation in various environmental conditions. The category encompasses both flat and three-dimensional signs, including illuminated and non-illuminated variants, produced through processes such as laser cutting, CNC routing, and screen printing. Subclassifications within 940569 address specific forms such as illuminated signs, neon signs, and other illuminated advertising devices. Acrylic signage serves critical commercial applications across food service establishments, retail environments, and industrial processing facilities, where clear, durable, and visually appealing display solutions are essential. The product’s competitive advantages lie in its lightweight composition, superior weather resistance, and versatility in design, making it a preferred choice for businesses requiring compliance with stringent safety and aesthetic standards. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 940569 falls under Chapter 94 – "Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; lamps and lighting fittings, not elsewhere specified or included," with Heading 9405 covering "Lamps and lighting fittings including searchlights and spotlights and parts thereof, not elsewhere specified or included." The subheading 940569 specifically designates "Illuminated signs, illuminated name-plates and illuminated advertising panels." This classification is justified by the product’s function as a lighting-related advertising apparatus made from acrylic materials. Trade considerations include packaging in reinforced cartons or wooden crates to prevent physical damage during transit, with preservation methods emphasizing moisture control and anti-static wrapping to maintain surface integrity. Shipping requirements typically mandate compliance with international safety standards for electrical components where applicable. Quality standards conform to ISO 9001 for manufacturing processes, alongside adherence to RoHS directives and relevant IEC standards for electrical safety. Documentation for customs clearance must include precise material composition, dimensions, and compliance certificates to ensure conformity with WTO trade facilitation agreements and harmonized system nomenclature.
