Adblue HS Code description
Adblue harmonized system code
Product Overview AdBlue, classified under HS Code 310210, is a high-purity aqueous urea solution specifically formulated for use as a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) agent in diesel engine emission control systems. This product typically consists of 32.5% high-grade synthetic urea dissolved in deionized water, meeting stringent purity standards to prevent catalyst contamination and ensure optimal performance. AdBlue’s physical characteristics include a clear, colorless liquid with a freezing point around -11°C and a density of approximately 1.09 g/cm³ at 20°C. Within HS Code 310210, subcategories differentiate between technical-grade urea solutions and those designated explicitly for automotive SCR applications. Widely utilized across food service logistics, retail transport fleets, and industrial processing sectors, AdBlue facilitates compliance with Euro 6 and EPA emission regulations by reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Its market positioning is defined by consistent quality, regulatory compliance, and compatibility with a broad range of diesel engines, providing a value proposition centered on environmental sustainability and operational reliability. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 310210 is structured as follows: Chapter 31 – Fertilizers; Heading 3102 – Urea, whether or not in aqueous solution; Subheading 310210 – Urea in aqueous solution. This classification encompasses urea-based solutions, including those formulated for non-agricultural applications such as AdBlue. The rationale for this classification lies in the chemical composition and processing method, differentiating it from solid urea forms and other nitrogenous compounds. Trade considerations dictate packaging in corrosion-resistant containers, typically 10L to 1000L high-density polyethylene (HDPE) drums or intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), to maintain chemical stability and prevent contamination. Preservation involves temperature-controlled storage to avoid crystallization or degradation, with shipping protocols aligned to UN transport regulations for non-hazardous aqueous chemical solutions. Compliance with ISO 22241 standards ensures consistent urea concentration and purity, facilitating international customs clearance and adherence to WTO trade frameworks. This detailed classification and handling guidance support efficient global distribution and regulatory conformity.
