Air bed HS Code description
Air bed harmonized system code
Product Overview Air beds classified under HS Code 630640 refer to inflatable bedding products primarily composed of durable, flexible synthetic materials such as PVC-coated polyester or nylon fabrics. These products are designed to provide temporary, portable sleeping surfaces featuring airtight chambers that can be inflated and deflated as needed. Key physical specifications often include variable dimensions adapted for single or double occupancy, thickness ranging between 15 to 30 centimeters when inflated, and load-bearing capacities typically up to 200 kilograms. Processing involves precision heat sealing or RF welding to ensure airtight seams, combined with surface treatments that enhance puncture resistance and UV durability. Within HS Code 630640, subcategories encompass various air bed types, including those with integrated pumps, multi-chamber designs for enhanced stability, and specialized models for outdoor or medical use. Commercially, these air beds serve diverse applications in hospitality, emergency accommodation, retail consumer goods, and temporary housing solutions. Their competitive advantage lies in portability, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness compared to conventional mattresses, making them indispensable in sectors requiring flexible bedding solutions. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 630640 is structured as follows: Chapter 63 (Other made-up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles), Heading 6306 (Tarpaulins, awnings and sunblinds; tents; sails for boats, sailboards or landcraft; camping goods), Subheading 630640 (Inflatable articles, specifically air beds). This classification is justified due to the air bed’s construction from coated textile materials and its function as a made-up textile article intended for bedding. Trade considerations emphasize packaging in moisture-resistant, compact cartons or polybags, often accompanied by user manuals and inflation devices. Preservation methods include ensuring airtight packaging and sometimes vacuum sealing to prevent damage during transit. Shipping requirements frequently mandate compliance with international safety standards for inflatable products, including pressure testing and material certifications. Quality standards adhere to ISO 9001 for manufacturing processes, alongside specific ASTM or EN standards governing material safety, durability, and hygiene. Compliance with WTO agreements and customs valuation rules ensures accurate tariff application and smooth customs clearance, facilitating efficient international trade operations.
