Badminton racket HS Code description

Badminton racket harmonized system code

Product Overview The badminton racket classified under HS Code 950659 is a sporting good specifically designed for the sport of badminton. It is a lightweight, hand-held device consisting of a frame, typically made from high-tensile materials such as carbon fiber, aluminum, or composite alloys, and strung with synthetic or natural fibers to create a taut hitting surface. The typical dimensions range from 660 to 680 millimeters in length, with weight specifications between 80 to 100 grams to optimize maneuverability and performance. This product falls under HS Code 9506, which encompasses articles and equipment for sports, games, and outdoor recreation, with subheading 950659 specifically addressing rackets used in badminton and similar sports. The badminton racket is utilized primarily in recreational and competitive sports settings, including clubs, schools, and professional tournaments. Its commercial applications extend to retail sporting goods outlets, sports equipment manufacturers, and distribution channels serving international markets. The product’s value proposition lies in its engineered balance of durability, aerodynamic design, and precision control, providing competitive advantages in both amateur and professional sectors. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The badminton racket is classified under HS Code 950659, where Chapter 95 covers “Toys, games and sports requisites; parts and accessories thereof,” Heading 9506 denotes “Articles and equipment for sports, games, outdoor sports, and outdoor recreation; parts and accessories thereof,” and Subheading 950659 specifically identifies “Other articles and equipment for badminton.” The classification rationale is based on its functional use as a sporting implement and its physical composition, which distinguishes it from other sports equipment. For international trade, badminton rackets are commonly packaged in protective cartons or tubes with cushioning materials to prevent damage during transit. Preservation methods focus on maintaining string tension and frame integrity, often involving humidity-controlled storage. Shipping requirements must comply with WTO regulations and local customs standards, ensuring accurate declaration and classification to facilitate smooth customs clearance. Quality standards adhere to international norms such as ISO 9001 for manufacturing processes and ITF (International Tennis Federation) specifications where applicable for racket dimensions and performance parameters. This ensures consistent product quality and regulatory compliance across global markets.
