Bag strap HS Code description
Bag strap harmonized system code
Product Overview Bag straps classified under HS Code 420500 are accessory components designed to secure, carry, or enhance the functionality of bags, including handbags, backpacks, and luggage. These straps are typically composed of durable materials such as leather, synthetic fibers, woven textiles, or metal chains, processed through cutting, stitching, and reinforcement to meet specified tensile strength and abrasion resistance standards. Within HS Code 420500, subcategories differentiate bag straps by material composition, width (commonly ranging from 2 cm to 5 cm), length (adjustable or fixed, typically 50 cm to 150 cm), and attachment mechanisms such as buckles, clips, or sewn loops. The product is integral to the retail, fashion, and luggage manufacturing industries, facilitating both functional utility and aesthetic appeal. Its market positioning hinges on durability, compliance with international material safety standards, and adaptability to various bag designs, offering importers and manufacturers a standardized component aligned with global trade and manufacturing protocols. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 420500 falls under Chapter 42 (Articles of leather; saddlery and harness; travel goods, handbags and similar containers; articles of animal gut), Heading 4205 (Other articles of leather or of composition leather), and Subheading 420500 specifically covers “Bag straps and handles.” This classification is based on the product’s material composition and its function as an accessory for bags rather than a standalone container. Trade professionals must note that bag straps are typically packaged in bulk quantities, often wrapped in protective materials such as polyethylene to prevent abrasion during transit. Preservation methods focus on maintaining material integrity, especially for leather straps, which require humidity-controlled storage to prevent mold and degradation. Shipping requirements adhere to international standards ensuring dimensional accuracy and consistency with declared HS codes for customs clearance. Quality standards include compliance with ISO 9001 for quality management and, where applicable, REACH regulations for chemical safety. This precise classification supports accurate tariff application, trade compliance, and efficient customs processing in global supply chains.
