Leather bracelet HS Code description
Leather bracelet harmonized system code
Product Overview The leather bracelet, classified under HS Code 420500, is a finely crafted accessory composed primarily of genuine or synthetic leather materials, designed for wrist adornment. This product features precise dimensions typically ranging from 18 to 22 centimeters in length and 1 to 2 centimeters in width, with variable thicknesses between 2 to 4 millimeters depending on design specifications. Processing involves tanning, cutting, stitching, and finishing techniques to ensure durability, flexibility, and aesthetic appeal. Quality attributes include resistance to wear, consistent coloration, and compliance with international standards for leather goods. Within HS Code 420500, which broadly encompasses articles of leather or composition leather, subcategories cover items such as leather handbags, wallets, and small leather accessories, with bracelets representing a niche segment. Commercially, leather bracelets are utilized predominantly in the retail fashion sector, with ancillary uses in promotional merchandise and specialty gift markets. Their market positioning hinges on the balance of artisanal craftsmanship and material quality, providing a competitive advantage through durability and design versatility in global trade environments. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 420500 is structured as follows: Chapter 42 – Articles of leather; Heading 4205 – Other articles of leather or of composition leather; Subheading 420500 – Specifically covering leather bracelets and similar small leather goods. Classification under this code is justified by the product’s material composition (leather-based) and its functional use as a wearable accessory distinct from larger leather articles. Trade considerations include packaging typically in protective, moisture-resistant polybags or box cartons to prevent deformation and surface damage during transit. Preservation methods involve maintaining controlled humidity levels between 40-60% to inhibit leather degradation. Shipping requirements comply with international standards, ensuring adherence to WTO agreements and harmonized customs procedures. Quality standards mandate conformity with ISO 9001 quality management systems and leather-specific standards such as ISO 3377 for tensile strength and ISO 2418 for leather thickness measurement. Accurate classification facilitates efficient customs clearance, tariff application, and trade compliance across jurisdictions.
