Brake master cylinder HS Code description
Brake master cylinder harmonized system code
Product Overview The brake master cylinder, classified under HS Code 870830, is a critical component within automotive braking systems responsible for converting mechanical force into hydraulic pressure to actuate the vehicle’s brake calipers or wheel cylinders. Typically constructed from high-grade cast aluminum or steel alloys, these cylinders exhibit precise machining tolerances to ensure optimal hydraulic fluid containment and pressure generation. The product features multiple ports for brake fluid input and output, integrated piston assemblies, and corrosion-resistant surface treatments to enhance durability and performance under variable operating conditions. Under HS Code 870830, the brake master cylinder falls within the broader category of parts and accessories for motor vehicles, specifically sub-classified under braking system components. Its commercial applications extend across automotive manufacturing, aftermarket replacement, and vehicle maintenance sectors, serving passenger cars, commercial trucks, and industrial machinery. Market positioning is underscored by compliance with stringent automotive standards such as ISO/TS 16949, providing reliable performance, safety assurance, and compatibility with international vehicle specifications. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The brake master cylinder is classified under the Harmonized System (HS) Code 870830, where ‘87’ denotes Chapter 87: Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, ‘08’ specifies Heading 8708: Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of headings 8701 to 8705, and ‘30’ identifies the subheading for braking system components. This classification is justified by the product’s integral function within the vehicle’s hydraulic braking mechanism, distinguishing it from other automotive parts such as engines or electrical components. Trade considerations include packaging in corrosion-resistant containers or sealed plastic to prevent fluid contamination and moisture ingress, with bulk or unitized shipments secured to minimize mechanical damage during transit. Preservation techniques comply with international standards to maintain product integrity, including desiccants and protective coatings. Quality standards adhere to ISO 9001 and relevant regional automotive regulations to ensure conformity with global trade and customs requirements. Documentation typically mandates precise identification of material composition, manufacturing origin, and compliance certifications to facilitate customs clearance and tariff assessment under WTO guidelines.
Brake master cylinder Chapter Note
1.- This Chapter does not cover railway or tramway rolling-stock designed solely for running on rails. 2.- For the purposes of this Chapter, “tractors” means vehicles constructed essentially for hauling or pushing another vehicle, appliance or load, whether or not they contain subsidiary provision for the transport, in connection with the main use of the tractor, of tools, seeds, fertilisers or other goods. Machines and working tools designed for fitting to tractors of heading 87.01 as interchangeable equipment remain classified in their respective headings even if presented with the tractor, and whether or not mounted on it. 3.- Motor chassis fitted with cabs fall in headings 87.02 to 87.04, and not in heading 87.06. 4.- Heading 87.12 includes all children's bicycles. Other children's cycles fall in heading 95.03.
