Bronze sculpture HS Code description

Bronze sculpture harmonized system code

Product Overview Bronze sculptures classified under HS Code 970390 are three-dimensional artistic works primarily composed of bronze, an alloy consisting predominantly of copper with tin and other trace metals. These sculptures exhibit precise craftsmanship involving casting, finishing, and patination processes that enhance durability and aesthetic appeal. Typical physical specifications include weights ranging from a few kilograms to several hundred kilograms, with detailed surface textures and dimensional accuracies often within millimeter tolerances. Under HS Code 970390, subcategories encompass statuettes, figurines, and other sculptural art pieces not specified elsewhere, enabling differentiation by size, finish, and intended use. Commercial applications extend beyond decorative art into corporate gifting, public installations, and cultural exhibitions, serving retail galleries, museums, and private collectors. The product’s value proposition lies in its material longevity, corrosion resistance, and artistic uniqueness, ensuring competitive advantages in international markets where quality and provenance are pivotal. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 970390 falls under Chapter 97, “Works of Art, Collectors’ Pieces and Antiques,” with Heading 9703 specifically denoting “Original sculptures and statuary, in any material.” The six-digit code 970390 identifies “Other” sculptures not classified under precious metals or other specified materials. This classification is appropriate given the bronze composition and artistic form of the product. Trade considerations include packaging in custom-fitted crates with protective padding to prevent mechanical damage during transit, alongside humidity control measures to mitigate oxidation. Typical shipment methods involve air or sea freight with temperature and moisture monitoring to preserve surface integrity. Compliance with ISO 9001 quality management standards and adherence to WTO customs valuation and import-export documentation protocols is mandatory. Documentation must detail material composition, weight, dimensions, and origin to facilitate customs clearance and tariff application consistent with international trade regulations.
