Cigarette filter HS Code description
Cigarette filter harmonized system code
Product Overview Cigarette filters classified under HS Code 560130 are defined as manufactured components designed to reduce the inhalation of tar, nicotine, and other particulate matter in cigarette smoke. These filters are typically cylindrical, measuring approximately 20-25 mm in length and 7-8 mm in diameter, composed primarily of cellulose acetate fibers processed through plasticizing, pleating, and compaction techniques to achieve consistent density and filtration efficiency. The product subcategories within HS Code 560130 include plain filters, flavored filters, and those integrated with activated carbon or other filtration additives to enhance smoke purification. Predominantly used in tobacco product manufacturing, these filters serve as essential components in cigarette assembly lines across retail and processing industries. Their value proposition lies in standardized quality control, ease of integration into automated production systems, and compliance with international health and safety regulations, positioning them competitively in global tobacco supply chains. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 560130 falls under Chapter 56: Wadding, Felt, and Nonwovens; Special Yarns; Twine, Cordage, Rope, and Cables and Articles Thereof. The hierarchical breakdown is as follows: Chapter 56 (Wadding and related products), Heading 5601 (Wadding of textile materials and articles thereof), Subheading 560130 (Nonwovens, whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminated, in rolls or sheets, used specifically as cigarette filters). This classification is justified by the product’s composition and its specialized application in tobacco filtration. Standard trade practices dictate packaging in moisture-resistant, airtight cartons or sealed polyethylene bags to preserve filter integrity and prevent contamination during transit. Typical shipping units range from 10,000 to 50,000 filters per carton, with controlled humidity and temperature parameters to maintain product quality. Compliance with ISO 15592-1 standards for cigarette filters ensures adherence to international quality benchmarks. All documentation and labeling conform with WTO SPS and TBT agreements to facilitate smooth customs clearance and harmonized trade operations.
