Cleaning cloth HS Code description

Cleaning cloth harmonized system code

Product Overview Cleaning cloths classified under HS Code 630710 are textile articles primarily designed for surface cleaning and maintenance purposes. These products are typically manufactured from woven or non-woven fabrics composed of natural fibers (such as cotton or linen), synthetic fibers (such as polyester or nylon), or blends thereof. They are processed through cleaning, bleaching, dyeing, and finishing treatments to enhance absorbency, durability, and resistance to wear. Physically, these cloths vary in size, weight (commonly ranging from 50 to 200 grams per square meter), and weave density, tailored to specific cleaning applications. The HS Code 630710 encompasses subcategories including kitchen cloths, dusting cloths, polishing cloths, and specialty cleaning wipes differentiated by fiber composition and intended industrial use. Commercially, these cloths serve essential roles in food service environments, retail establishments, and processing industries where hygiene and surface sanitation are critical. Their value proposition lies in their versatility, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with hygiene standards, positioning them as indispensable consumables in both B2B and institutional supply chains. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 630710 is structured under Chapter 63 (Textile Articles, Sets, Worn Clothing and Worn Textile Articles; Rags), Heading 6307 (Other Made-Up Articles, Including Dress Patterns), with the Subheading 630710 specifically allocated to cleaning cloths. This classification is justified by the product’s nature as a finished textile article designed for cleaning purposes, distinct from apparel or furnishing textiles. Trade compliance requires adherence to packaging standards that typically involve bundling in moisture-resistant polyethylene bags or cartons to prevent contamination and preserve fabric integrity during transit. Preservation methods may include anti-microbial treatments or humidity control for extended shelf life. Shipping considerations emphasize protection against physical damage and contamination, with palletization common for bulk exports. Quality standards aligned with ISO 9001 and relevant national hygiene certifications ensure product consistency and regulatory compliance. Documentation must reflect precise fiber composition, weight per unit area, and origin to facilitate customs clearance and WTO-aligned trade facilitation protocols.
