Coconut cream HS Code description

Coconut cream harmonized system code

Product Overview Coconut Cream, designated within the HS Code 2106, is a rich, dense variant of coconut milk, meticulously derived from mature coconuts. It carries a thick consistency and a high-fat content, distinguishing it from lighter coconut milk varieties. The product offers a robust coconut flavor, making it a coveted ingredient in various culinary applications. Under HS Code 2106, which encompasses miscellaneous edible preparations, Coconut Cream is further classified as a food preparation not elsewhere specified. The broad spectrum of commercial applications for Coconut Cream spans across food service, retail, and processing industries. It plays a pivotal role in cuisines worldwide, featuring prominently in curries, desserts, beverages, and sauces. The high demand can be attributed to its versatility, nutritional benefits, and unique flavor profile, positioning it as a valuable commodity in the global food market. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Coconut Cream falls under the 6-digit HS Code 2106.90, with '21' representing the chapter for 'Miscellaneous Edible Preparations', '06' identifying the heading for 'Other', and '.90' specifying the subheading for 'Other Food Preparations.' The classification rationale stems from its distinct manufacturing process, which does not align with other coconut product categories. In terms of trade considerations, Coconut Cream is often packaged in cans, tetra packs, or aseptic bags to maintain freshness and extend shelf life. It is imperative that the product is stored in cool, dry conditions and shipped under refrigerated transport when necessary. Quality standards for Coconut Cream are dictated by attributes like color, aroma, taste, and fat content, which should align with the Codex Alimentarius Commission's guidelines. This descriptive overview adheres to WTO and customs documentation standards, providing essential information for customs brokers, trade compliance officers, international buyers, and import/export businesses.
