Copper pipe & tube HS Code description

Copper pipe & tube harmonized system code

Product Overview Copper Pipe & Tube under HS Code 7411 refers to a category of products made primarily from copper, designed into the form of pipes or tubes. These pipes and tubes are characterized by their exceptional thermal conductivity, making them the preferred choice for heating systems, air conditioning, refrigeration, and other applications where heat transfer is required. They are available in different dimensions and thicknesses, with options for hard and soft tempered copper to cater to specific usage requirements. Under HS Code 7411, the product classification includes refined copper tubes and pipes, copper alloys tubes and pipes, and corresponding fittings. The commercial applications of these copper pipes and tubes are extensive, ranging from food service and retail to processing industries, with a significant presence in the construction and HVAC sectors. The value proposition of Copper Pipe & Tube lies in their durability, resistance to corrosion, and recyclability, offering a competitive edge over alternatives like plastic or steel. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete HS Code structure for Copper Pipe & Tube is 7411, where "74" represents the chapter for Copper and articles thereof, "11" is the heading for tubes, pipes, and tube or pipe fittings. The product is classified under this code due to its primary material - copper, and its form - tubes or pipes. Trade considerations for these products include packaging in wooden crates or pallets for protection during transit, preservation through anti-tarnish paper wrapping to prevent oxidation, and adherence to shipping requirements like proper labeling and documentation. Quality standards for these products are strictly enforced, with attributes like material composition, dimensions, wall thickness, and tempering state being quantifiable and subject to inspection. The classification and description of Copper Pipe & Tube under HS Code 7411 are compliant with WTO guidelines and customs documentation standards, ensuring consistency with international trade classification systems.

Copper pipe & tube Chapter Note

1.- In this Chapter the following expressions have the meanings hereby assigned to them : (a) Refined copper Metal containing at least 99.85 % by weight of copper; or Metal containing at least 97.5 % by weight of copper, provided that the content by weight of any other element does not exceed the limit specified in the following table : (b) Copper alloys Metallic substances other than unrefined copper in which copper predominates by weight over each of the other elements, provided that : (i) the content by weight of at least one of the other elements is greater than the limit specified in the foregoing table; or (ii) the total content by weight of such other elements exceeds 2.5 %. (c) Master alloys Alloys containing with other elements more than 10 % by weight of copper, not usefully malleable and commonly used as an additive in the manufacture of other alloys or as de-oxidants, desulphurising agents or for similar uses in the metallurgy of non-ferrous metals. However, copper phosphide (phosphor copper) containing more than 15 % by weight of phosphorus falls in heading 28.53.
