Disposable shoe cover HS Code description

Disposable shoe cover harmonized system code

Product Overview Disposable shoe covers classified under HS Code 630790 are single-use protective footwear accessories designed to prevent contamination and maintain hygiene standards across various industrial and commercial environments. Typically manufactured from non-woven polypropylene, polyethylene, or similar synthetic materials, these covers feature elasticated openings to ensure secure fitment over standard shoe sizes, with thickness ranging from 10 to 30 microns to balance durability and disposability. Under HS Code 630790, the product falls within the broader category of "Other made-up textile articles," specifically encompassing footwear accessories not elsewhere classified. Subcategories include variations based on material composition (e.g., polypropylene, polyethylene), intended application (medical, industrial, food processing), and structural design (woven, non-woven). Commercially, disposable shoe covers are extensively utilized in food service establishments, pharmaceutical manufacturing, cleanroom environments, and retail sectors where contamination control is critical. Their value proposition lies in ease of use, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with hygiene protocols, making them indispensable for maintaining sanitary conditions and reducing cross-contamination risks in regulated environments. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 630790 corresponds to Chapter 63 – "Other made-up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags," Heading 63.07 – "Other made-up articles, including dress patterns," with Subheading 6307.90 – "Other." This classification is assigned based on the product’s nature as a textile-made accessory that does not fit into more specific footwear or garment categories. The rationale for this classification hinges on the disposable shoe cover’s construction from textile-based materials and its function as an accessory rather than primary footwear. In international trade, these products are commonly packaged in quantities ranging from 50 to 500 units per carton, utilizing moisture-resistant polybags and corrugated cartons to ensure protection against environmental factors during transit. Preservation methods focus on maintaining product integrity through controlled humidity and temperature conditions to prevent material degradation. Compliance with ISO 13485 (for medical-grade covers) or equivalent quality standards is often required, alongside adherence to WTO customs documentation protocols, including accurate HS code declaration, country of origin marking, and conformity to international nomenclature. This facilitates streamlined customs clearance, tariff classification, and regulatory compliance across global markets.
