Door HS Code description

Door harmonized system code

Product Overview A door, under HS Code 4418, pertains to a moveable barrier used to cover an opening in a building, room or vehicle. Doors are typically made from various materials such as wood, metal, and glass, with the HS Code 4418 specifically referring to those constructed from wood. Key characteristics of these wooden doors include their physical specifications such as dimensions, design, type of wood used, and the level of processing involved, from raw wood to polished, painted, or varnished finishes. Doors under this category may be further classified into subcategories based on their specific features such as paneled, veneered, and sliding doors. These doors find extensive commercial applications across various sectors including food service, retail, and processing industries, providing both functional and aesthetic value. The market positioning of these doors is based on their inherent advantages such as durability, insulation properties, and versatile design options. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications HS Code 4418 falls under Chapter 44, which pertains to wood and articles of wood. The 6-digit code 4418 refers specifically to builders' joinery and carpentry of wood, including doors. The specific classification of doors under this code is due to their construction primarily from wood and their use in construction and interior design. Trade considerations for these doors involve packaging that provides adequate protection against damage, with preservation methods ensuring the maintenance of the door's quality during transit. Shipping requirements typically depend on the size and quantity of the doors being transported. Quality standards for these doors include adherence to specific dimensions, durability, and finish quality. These standards ensure that the doors meet the expectations of international buyers and comply with World Trade Organization and customs documentation standards. It's essential to note that the description and classification should remain consistent with international trade classification systems to facilitate smooth customs clearance and trade operations.
