Drilling tools - drill bit HS Code description

Drilling tools - drill bit harmonized system code

Product Overview Drilling Tools - Drill Bit fall under the Harmonized System (HS) Code 8207, which encompasses interchangeable tools for hand tools or machine tools. These Drill Bits are precision-engineered components used for creating cylindrical holes. Key characteristics of these tools include their material composition (typically high-speed steel, cobalt, or carbide), various diameters, lengths, flute designs, and tip geometries. They are subjected to several processing levels, including hardening and tempering, grinding, and coating to enhance their durability, longevity, and performance. The subcategories under HS Code 8207 detail the drill bit type, such as twist drills, masonry drills, and countersink drills, among others. The application of these tools is widespread in industries like construction, manufacturing, automotive, and mining due to their ability to drill through a range of materials like metal, wood, plastic, and masonry. The market positioning of these Drill Bits is based on their durability, precision, and versatility, making them indispensable in various trades and industries. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Drilling Tools - Drill Bits are classified under the HS Code 8207, where '82' represents the chapter for tools, implements, cutlery, spoons, and forks of base metal; '07' stands for the heading that specifies interchangeable tools for hand tools or machine tools. This classification is due to the Drill Bit's function as an interchangeable tool used in various hand and machine operations. When it comes to trade, these tools are commonly packaged in plastic cases or tubes for individual bits and bulk-packaged in cartons for large quantities. Preservation methods involve anti-rust coatings and sealed packaging to prevent environmental damage. Shipping requirements typically involve sturdy packaging and careful handling due to the bits' sharp points and edges. The quality standards for these tools are determined by various international standards, including DIN, ANSI, and ISO, ensuring consistency and reliability in performance. The technical specifications of these Drill Bits, including their dimensions, material, hardness, and surface finish, are critical information for trade documentation and compliance with international trade laws.
