Dust mask HS Code description

Dust mask harmonized system code

Product Overview Dust masks classified under HS Code 630790 are protective face coverings primarily designed to filter airborne particulates and contaminants, ensuring respiratory safety in various occupational environments. These masks are typically constructed from multi-layered non-woven fabrics, incorporating materials such as polypropylene for enhanced filtration efficiency and breathability. Physically, they conform to standardized dimensions, generally ranging from 12 to 15 centimeters in width and height, with adjustable nose clips and elastic straps to ensure a secure fit. The product encompasses a range of subcategories within 630790, including disposable dust masks, reusable variants with replaceable filters, and specialized dust masks designed for specific particulate sizes. Their commercial applications span food processing, retail environments, industrial manufacturing, and construction sectors, where control of dust and particulate matter is critical. Positioned competitively in the global market, these dust masks offer a balance of cost-effectiveness, compliance with international safety standards, and adaptability to diverse industrial requirements, making them essential components of occupational health and safety protocols. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The dust mask falls under the Harmonized System (HS) Code 630790, structured hierarchically as follows: Chapter 63 (Other made-up textile articles; sets, worn clothing and worn textile articles), Heading 6307 (Other made-up articles, including dress patterns), and Subheading 630790 (Other). This classification is based on the product’s nature as a made-up textile article not elsewhere specified or included, specifically designed for protective use. Trade professionals must note that dust masks under this code commonly adhere to packaging standards involving bulk quantities, typically 50 to 200 units per carton, employing moisture-resistant materials to preserve product integrity during transit. Shipping requirements prioritize contamination prevention and ventilation to maintain filtration efficacy. Quality standards relevant to international trade include compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems and alignment with regional certification protocols such as CE marking in Europe or NIOSH approval in the United States when applicable. Documentation must verify conformity with WTO regulations and customs classification guidelines to ensure seamless import/export processing and minimize trade disputes.
