Elastic tape HS Code description
Elastic tape harmonized system code
Product Overview The Elastic Tape, classified under Harmonized System (HS) Code 5806, is a type of narrow woven fabric that exhibits a high degree of stretchability. It is primarily composed of synthetic or natural elastic fibers interlaced with less elastic threads for reinforcement. Elastic Tape under HS Code 5806 varies in width from a few millimeters to several centimeters, with the elasticity and tensile strength being the key quality attributes. The product classifications under HS Code 5806 are subdivided according to the material composition and processing methods, including knitted, woven, or braided forms. The Elastic Tape finds its primary applications in various industries such as the clothing industry for waistbands, sleeves, necklines and leg bands, in the medical industry for bandages and support wraps, and in the sports industry for athletic wear and gear. The value proposition of Elastic Tape lies in its versatility, durability, and its ability to maintain shape and tension under repetitive stress, giving it a competitive edge in the market. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Elastic Tape is classified under the HS Code 5806, where '58' represents the chapter for "Special woven fabrics; tufted textile fabrics; lace, tapestries; trimmings; embroidery", the '06' heading specifically designates “narrow woven fabrics other than goods of heading No.5807; narrow fabrics consisting of warp without weft assembled by means of an adhesive (bolducs)”. The rationale behind this classification is the product's narrow width and woven construction. In terms of trade considerations, Elastic Tape is typically packaged in rolls and stored in dry, cool conditions to preserve the elastic properties. The shipping requirements are standard, with no special considerations due to the product's durable nature. International quality standards for Elastic Tape focus on tensile strength, elasticity, colorfastness, and conformity with dimensional specifications. This product description aligns with WTO standards and customs documentation requirements, providing all the necessary factual and measurable attributes for efficient classification and trade.
