Electric vehicle (ev) parts HS Code description
Electric vehicle (ev) parts harmonized system code
Product Overview Electric Vehicle (EV) Parts under HS Code 8708 refer to a wide range of components specifically compatible with electrically powered automobiles. These parts, varying from electric motors, batteries, power control units, to charging equipment, are integral to the function and performance of electric vehicles. Crafted with advanced technology, they conform to rigorous quality standards to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency. The subcategories within HS Code 8708 include but are not restricted to 8708.10 (Bumpers and parts thereof), 8708.30 (Brakes and servo-brakes; parts thereof), 8708.40 (Gear boxes and parts thereof), each relating to different parts of an electric vehicle. These parts are prominently utilized in automotive manufacturing, repair and maintenance services, and recharging stations. Their market positioning is anchored in the rapid expansion of the EV industry, guaranteeing high demand and competitive advantage due to their essential role in the EV infrastructure. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications HS Code 8708 is structured under Chapter 87 (Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof), Heading 08 (Parts and accessories of the motor vehicles). The classification of EV parts under this code is justified due to their specific application in motor vehicles. When traded, these parts are typically packed securely in custom-designed packaging to protect them from damage during transit, with special attention given to battery components due to their sensitive nature. Preservation methods include vacuum sealing and the use of anti-static materials for electronic components. Shipping requirements often mandate adherence to safety guidelines due to the electrical nature of the parts. The quality of these parts is ensured through compliance with international standards such as ISO 26262 for functional safety and ISO 15118 for charging systems. The technical specifications of each part, like power output, energy capacity, and physical dimensions, are clearly marked to facilitate accurate classification and smooth trade operations.
