Face mask HS Code description

Face mask harmonized system code

Product Overview A Face Mask under HS Code 6307 is defined as a personal protective device designed to provide a physical barrier between the wearer's mouth and nose and potential contaminants in the immediate environment. The key characteristics of these face masks include their lightweight nature, breathability, and ability to filter out contaminants. These masks are typically made of non-woven fabrics, such as polypropylene, and are often disposable, though some can be reusable. Face masks under this HS Code are classified into various subcategories based on factors such as their filtration efficiency and whether they are intended for medical or non-medical use. These masks have widespread commercial applications across food service, retail, and various processing industries. The value proposition of face masks includes their vital role in infection control, enhancing health and safety in diverse settings. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Face Mask comes under the HS Code 6307.90, which falls under Chapter 63 (Textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags), Heading 07 (Other made-up textile articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags), and Subheading 90 (Other). The classification of face masks under this specific code is due to their textile composition and their categorization as "Other made-up textile articles". Important trade considerations include standard packaging in plastic or paper boxes for preservation and ease of shipping. These masks are typically shipped in bulk and require proper storage conditions to maintain their quality. The quality standards for face masks under this HS Code are set by various international and regional bodies, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Union (EU). These standards include specific measurable attributes such as bacterial filtration efficiency, breathability, and splash resistance.
