Felt HS Code description
Felt harmonized system code
Product Overview Felt, classified under HS Code 5602, is a non-woven fabric primarily made by condensing and pressing fibers together. It is characterized by its high density, thermal insulation, and sound absorption properties. This fabric comes in various thicknesses, densities, and fiber compositions, including wool, synthetic, and blended fibers, each possessing unique attributes. HS Code 5602 encompasses a wide range of felt categories, including needleloom felt and stitch-bonded fiber fabrics. They are widely utilized across several industries such as automotive for sound insulation, in musical instruments for damping, in home construction for insulation purposes, and in the crafting sector for various applications. The value proposition of felt lies in its versatility, durability, and cost-effectiveness, offering a competitive edge over alternatives in the market. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete HS Code for felt is 5602, with the hierarchical breakdown as follows: Chapter 56 (Wadding, felt and nonwovens; special yarns; twine, cordage, ropes and cables and articles thereof), Heading 02 (Felt, whether or not impregnated, coated, covered or laminated). Felt's classification under this specific code is due to its manufacturing process, which doesn't involve weaving or knitting, but rather pressing and matting fibers together. Trade considerations for felt include packaging in rolls or sheets, depending on the product's thickness and intended use. The preservation methods primarily involve keeping the product away from moisture and excessive heat. Shipping requirements include maintaining a stable environment to prevent damage due to changes in temperature or humidity. Felt under HS Code 5602 must adhere to the international quality standards set by WTO and customs, ensuring consistent density, thickness, and fiber composition. This product description is designed to aid customs classification, trade documentation requirements, and to provide trade professionals with a comprehensive understanding of felt under HS Code 5602.
