Fragrance & perfume HS Code description
Fragrance & perfume harmonized system code
Product Overview Fragrance & Perfume, under the Harmonized System (HS) Code 3303, refers to products specifically designed to elicit a pleasant scent by the application or diffusion in the environment. This category includes products made through various processes, including distillation, expression, or extraction, often from natural sources like flowers, bark, and roots, but also from synthetic compounds. The physical specifications of these products can range from liquid to solid forms, and their quality attributes may include the intensity and longevity of the scent, the complexity of the aroma profile, and the purity of the ingredients used. HS Code 3303 further classifies these products into subcategories such as perfumes and toilet waters (3303.00.10), and beauty or makeup preparations and preparations for the care of the skin, excluding medicaments (3303.00.30). Commercially, Fragrance & Perfume products are integral to industries like cosmetics, personal care, home care, and hospitality. Their value proposition lies in the enhancement of consumer experiences, and their competitive advantages often depend on brand reputation, product quality, and sensory appeal. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete HS Code structure for Fragrance & Perfume is 3303.00, with 33 representing the Chapter for 'Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations,' and 03 indicating the Heading for 'Perfumes and toilet waters.' The classification rationale for this HS Code is based on the product's nature and intended use as a scent-enhancing product. When it comes to trade considerations, these products are typically packaged in glass or plastic containers to preserve their quality and are shipped under conditions that protect them from heat and light exposure. Fragrance & Perfume products traded under this HS Code must adhere to international quality standards, which may include regulations for ingredient safety, product stability, and labeling accuracy. These standards, combined with the product's specific measurable attributes like concentration levels and pH, are critical for customs classification, trade documentation, and compliance with World Trade Organization (WTO) and international trade classification systems.
