Fragrance oil HS Code description

Fragrance oil harmonized system code

Product Overview Fragrance Oil, classified under Harmonized System (HS) Code 3302, is a concentrated essence typically derived from natural or synthetic substances to impart specific aromatic properties. These oils are usually obtained through methods such as distillation, extraction, and expression, then processed to varying degrees of refinement. The main subcategories within HS Code 3302 include mixtures of odoriferous substances and odoriferous substances used in the food or drink industries. Key characteristics of Fragrance Oil encompass attributes such as volatility, solubility, and stability, with a focus on the consistency of aroma over time. Commercial applications of Fragrance Oil are diverse, spanning food service, retail, and processing industries, where they are used to enhance the aroma of products ranging from perfumes and cosmetics to cleaning products and air fresheners. Fragrance Oil's market positioning underscores its value in adding sensory appeal to consumer goods, thereby increasing their marketability and consumer preference. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications HS Code 3302 belongs to Chapter 33 (Essential Oils and Resinoids; Perfumery, Cosmetic or Toilet Preparations) under the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System. This classification is justified due to the product's essential role in the perfumery and cosmetic industry as a primary component. Trade considerations for Fragrance Oil include its packaging, often in dark glass or aluminium containers to preserve the oil from light and heat exposure. Shipping requirements typically mandate the use of hazard labels due to the oil's flammable nature, and the packaging should meet the standards set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Quality standards for Fragrance Oil are dictated by factors such as purity, concentration, and the presence of impurities or allergens. These standards align with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and customs documentation requirements, ensuring the oil's compliance with international trade classification systems.
