Glass candle holder HS Code description

Glass candle holder harmonized system code

Product Overview The glass candle holder classified under HS Code 701399 is a specialized container primarily designed to securely house candles for illumination or decorative purposes. Constructed from high-grade soda-lime or borosilicate glass, these holders exhibit precise dimensional tolerances typically ranging from 50mm to 150mm in height and 40mm to 100mm in diameter. The manufacturing process involves automated molding or hand-blown techniques followed by annealing to enhance structural integrity and thermal resistance. Key physical characteristics include transparency or frosted finishes, smooth rims, and stable bases to prevent tipping. Under HS Code 701399, glass candle holders are categorized within the broader classification of “Glassware for Table, Kitchen, Toilet, Office, Indoor Decoration or Similar Purposes,” with subcategories delineating distinctions based on shape, thickness, and intended use. Commercially, these holders are widely utilized across food service establishments to enhance ambiance, retail outlets for decorative merchandising, and processing industries where controlled candle environments are required. Their value proposition lies in combining aesthetic appeal with durability, facilitating multiple-use cycles while complying with safety standards relevant to fire containment and heat dispersion. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete HS Code for glass candle holders is 701399, which is decomposed as follows: Chapter 70 (Glass and Glassware), Heading 13 (Glassware of a kind used for table, kitchen, toilet, office, indoor decoration or similar purposes, excluding lighting fixtures and parts), and Subheading 99 (Other glassware not elsewhere specified). This classification is justified by the product’s material composition (glass) and functional design intended for indoor decorative use rather than lighting apparatus or industrial glassware. Trade considerations emphasize packaging in sturdy corrugated cartons with protective cushioning such as molded pulp or polyethylene foam to minimize breakage during transit. Preservation protocols ensure the elimination of moisture and contaminants, often employing desiccants and sealed polybags. Shipping typically follows standard palletization schemes aligned with international container dimensions to optimize load efficiency. Quality standards conform to ISO 7086 and relevant ASTM specifications, addressing parameters like glass thickness uniformity (commonly 2-5 mm), impact resistance, and thermal shock tolerance. Compliance with WTO technical barriers to trade (TBT) agreements and adherence to Harmonized System nomenclature ensure streamlined customs clearance and facilitate accurate tariff application in global commerce.
