Golf cart HS Code description

Golf cart harmonized system code

Product Overview Golf carts classified under HS Code 870310 are electrically or mechanically powered vehicles primarily designed for transporting players and equipment within golf courses and similar premises. These vehicles typically feature a compact chassis, low-speed electric or gasoline engines, and seating capacity for two to four passengers. Key physical specifications include a maximum speed generally capped at 25 km/h, battery voltage ranging from 36V to 48V for electric models, and dimensions roughly between 1.2 to 1.5 meters in width and 2.5 to 3 meters in length. These golf carts undergo advanced assembly and quality control processes to ensure durability, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. Subcategories within HS 870310 encompass electric golf carts, gasoline-powered carts, and specialized utility variants equipped with cargo beds or custom accessories. Commercially, these vehicles serve critical roles in hospitality, sports facilities, retail complexes, and industrial campuses, facilitating efficient personnel and goods movement. Their competitive advantage lies in low emissions, energy efficiency, and adaptability to diverse terrains, positioning them as essential assets in sustainable transport solutions. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 870310 is structured as follows: Chapter 87 (Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, and parts and accessories thereof), Heading 03 (Motor vehicles for the transport of persons, with only electric motor for propulsion), and Subheading 10 (Golf carts and similar vehicles). This classification is warranted due to the vehicle’s design for transporting persons at low speeds with electric propulsion, distinct from conventional passenger automobiles or industrial vehicles. Trade professionals must note packaging standards that emphasize corrosion-resistant coverings and secure fastening to prevent damage during transit. Preservation methods include battery disconnection and fluid drainage to comply with international shipping safety regulations. Typical shipping units range from palletized sets to container loads, adhering to IMO and IATA guidelines where applicable. Quality standards conform to ISO 9001 certification and relevant regional safety directives, ensuring compliance with WTO trade facilitation protocols. This detailed classification and adherence to standardized trade practices streamline customs clearance, minimize disputes, and enhance supply chain transparency for importers and exporters.

Golf cart Chapter Note

1.- This Chapter does not cover railway or tramway rolling-stock designed solely for running on rails. 2.- For the purposes of this Chapter, “tractors” means vehicles constructed essentially for hauling or pushing another vehicle, appliance or load, whether or not they contain subsidiary provision for the transport, in connection with the main use of the tractor, of tools, seeds, fertilisers or other goods. Machines and working tools designed for fitting to tractors of heading 87.01 as interchangeable equipment remain classified in their respective headings even if presented with the tractor, and whether or not mounted on it. 3.- Motor chassis fitted with cabs fall in headings 87.02 to 87.04, and not in heading 87.06. 4.- Heading 87.12 includes all children's bicycles. Other children's cycles fall in heading 95.03.
