Kitchen scissors HS Code description
Kitchen scissors harmonized system code
Product Overview Kitchen scissors classified under HS Code 821300 are specialized cutting instruments designed primarily for domestic and commercial food preparation. These scissors typically feature stainless steel blades with a blade length ranging from 8 to 12 centimeters, combined with ergonomically designed handles made from durable, food-grade polymers or metals. Manufactured through precision stamping and grinding processes, these tools exhibit high corrosion resistance, sharpness retention, and ease of sterilization. The HS Code 821300 encompasses various subcategories including household scissors, tailor’s shears, and kitchen shears, each differentiated by blade design and intended usage. Within the food service and processing sectors, kitchen scissors are extensively utilized for cutting meat, poultry, herbs, and packaging materials, facilitating efficient food preparation workflows. Their robust construction and hygienic design position them as essential implements in professional kitchens, retail culinary outlets, and food processing industries, offering enhanced operational efficiency and compliance with health and safety standards. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The Harmonized System (HS) Code 821300 is structured as follows: Chapter 82 (Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof), Heading 13 (Scissors, tailors’ shears and similar shears, and blades thereof), Subheading 00 (Kitchen scissors and similar shears). This classification is justified due to the product’s specific design as cutting shears intended for kitchen applications, distinct from other cutting tools by blade geometry and application context. Common packaging formats include bulk cartons or blister packs with protective sheathing to prevent blade damage during transit. Preservation involves anti-corrosion treatments and moisture-resistant packaging to maintain blade integrity. Shipping considerations mandate compliance with international safety regulations and proper declaration per WTO and Customs Union standards. Quality benchmarks often align with ISO 8442-5 for kitchen utensils, ensuring durability, hygienic safety, and material traceability. Accurate classification under HS 821300 facilitates streamlined customs clearance, tariff determination, and regulatory compliance across global markets.
