Marble table HS Code description

Marble table harmonized system code

Product Overview The marble table classified under HS Code 940389 is a furnishing item primarily constructed from natural or engineered marble stone, designed for functional and decorative use in various commercial environments. Typically, these tables feature solid marble tabletops with dimensions varying from standard sizes (e.g., 1200mm x 600mm) to custom specifications, supported by metal or wooden frameworks to enhance structural integrity and load-bearing capacity. The processing involves precision cutting, polishing, and finishing to achieve a smooth, durable surface resistant to wear, staining, and thermal variations. Under HS Code 940389, which encompasses “Furniture and parts thereof, of other materials, not elsewhere specified,” marble tables are subcategorized according to their design typology—such as dining tables, coffee tables, or worktables—distinguished by size, weight (usually ranging between 40-80 kg), and construction materials. Commercially, these tables are extensively utilized in food service establishments, retail showrooms, and industrial processing areas where hygiene, durability, and aesthetic appeal are critical. Their value proposition lies in combining robust, long-lasting material qualities with refined craftsmanship, offering competitive durability and premium appearance relative to wood or metal alternatives. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 940389 falls under Chapter 94 (Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings), Heading 9403 (Other furniture and parts thereof), with Subheading 940389 specifically identifying furniture made from materials not otherwise specified, including marble. The classification rationale is based on the product’s primary composition (marble) and its functional application as furniture, differentiating it from wooden (940330), metal (940360), or plastic (940390) furniture categories. For international shipments, marble tables are commonly packaged using reinforced wooden crates with internal padding to prevent damage from vibration and impact, complying with ISPM 15 standards for wooden packaging material. Preservation during transit involves moisture barriers and desiccants to mitigate humidity-related degradation. Shipping typically requires palletization and handling equipment suitable for heavy, fragile goods. Quality standards aligned with ISO 9001 and ASTM specifications for dimensional tolerance, surface finish, and load capacity are critical for customs verification and compliance. This classification and trade specification framework ensures adherence to WTO agreements and facilitates streamlined customs clearance and accurate tariff determination.
