Metal display stand HS Code description

Metal display stand harmonized system code

Product Overview The metal display stand classified under HS Code 940320 is a fabricated structural unit primarily constructed from steel or aluminum alloys, designed to support, exhibit, and organize merchandise or informational materials in commercial environments. Typically consisting of welded or bolted steel frames with powder-coated or electroplated finishes, these stands exhibit high dimensional stability and corrosion resistance. Standard dimensions range from compact countertop models (approximately 300mm x 300mm x 600mm) to larger freestanding units exceeding 1.5 meters in height, accommodating variable load capacities up to 50 kilograms per shelf. Under HS Code 940320, metal display stands fall within the broader category of “Other furniture and parts thereof,” specifically sub-classified by construction type and intended use, including shelving units, racks, and pedestals. These stands are prevalently utilized across retail outlets, food service establishments, and processing plants for product presentation, promotional displays, and organizational purposes. The robust metal construction ensures durability under frequent handling and environmental exposure, providing a competitive advantage in longevity and load-bearing capacity compared to plastic or wooden alternatives. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The product is classified under HS Code 940320, which is structured as follows: Chapter 94 — Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings; Heading 9403 — Other furniture and parts thereof; Subheading 940320 — Metal furniture (excluding seats). The classification rationale is based on the stand’s primary function as a furniture item designed for display and storage purposes, constructed predominantly from metal, distinct from seating furniture under other subheadings. For international trade, packaging typically involves disassembled units secured in reinforced corrugated fiberboard cartons with protective foam inserts to mitigate damage during transit. Preservation methods focus on anti-corrosion treatments such as zinc galvanization or powder coating to maintain surface integrity in variable climatic conditions. Shipping requirements conform to ISO container standards, ensuring efficient stacking and load distribution. Compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems and adherence to WTO valuation and customs documentation protocols is standard, facilitating seamless import/export processes. The product’s specifications and classification support accurate tariff application, duty assessment, and regulatory compliance across global trade jurisdictions.
