Plastic buttons HS Code description

Plastic buttons harmonized system code

Product Overview Plastic buttons classified under HS Code 960621 are defined as small, typically round fasteners made entirely or predominantly of synthetic polymer materials, used for securing or decorating garments and textiles. These buttons exhibit precise dimensional tolerances, generally ranging from 10mm to 30mm in diameter, and are produced through injection molding or extrusion processes followed by finishing operations such as polishing or coating to enhance durability and aesthetic appeal. The classification 960621 includes subcategories based on design features such as the number of holes (two-hole, four-hole), shank style, and surface texture. These buttons are widely utilized across various commercial sectors, including apparel manufacturing, food service uniforms, retail merchandising, and textile processing industries. Their lightweight nature, resistance to moisture and chemicals, and cost-effective production confer significant advantages in supply chain efficiency and product lifecycle, positioning them competitively within global markets for garment accessories. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The full 6-digit HS Code 960621 falls under Chapter 96 (Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles), Heading 9606 (Buttons, press-fasteners, snap-fasteners and press-studs, button moulds and other parts of these articles), Subheading 960621 (Buttons of plastics). This classification is based on the primary material composition and intended functional use, distinguishing these items from metal or textile buttons. Trade compliance necessitates adherence to standardized packaging protocols, typically involving bulk packaging in moisture-resistant polyethylene bags or cardboard boxes to prevent deformation and contamination during transit. Preservation methods focus on maintaining dimensional stability and surface integrity, with controlled humidity and temperature during storage and shipment. Quality standards conform to ISO 2859 sampling procedures and relevant ASTM specifications for plastic fasteners, ensuring consistency in mechanical strength and resistance to wear. Documentation must align with WTO trade facilitation agreements and customs valuation rules to expedite clearance and minimize tariff discrepancies, reflecting the product’s classification within international trade frameworks.
