Polyester ribbon HS Code description
Polyester ribbon harmonized system code
Product Overview Polyester ribbon classified under HS Code 580632 refers to woven or knitted narrow fabrics composed predominantly of polyester filament yarns. These ribbons typically exhibit widths ranging from 10 mm to 50 mm, with thickness and tensile strength parameters engineered to meet industrial requirements, often exceeding a tensile strength of 15 N/mm². The product undergoes finishing processes such as heat-setting, calendaring, and dyeing to enhance dimensional stability, colorfastness, and surface smoothness, ensuring consistent performance across diverse applications. The 580632 classification specifically encompasses woven ribbons with a textile base of synthetic filament yarns, excluding those impregnated, coated, or covered with plastic. Commercially, polyester ribbons serve critical functions in packaging for food service, product bundling in retail environments, and as functional components in processing industries where durability and resistance to moisture and abrasion are paramount. Their inherent chemical resistance and low elongation rate position them competitively against natural fiber alternatives in international markets, offering superior longevity and cost efficiency for bulk buyers and distributors. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 580632 falls under Chapter 58: "Special Woven Fabrics; Tufted Textile Fabrics; Lace; Tapestries; Trimmings; Embroidery," with Heading 5806 designating "Narrow Woven Fabrics, Other Than Those Made of Warp With Weft of Rubber or Coated With Plastics." The Subheading 580632 specifically identifies narrow woven fabrics composed of synthetic filament yarns, notably polyester. This classification is predicated on the fabric’s composition, weaving technique, and absence of plastic coating, in compliance with the Harmonized System nomenclature maintained by the World Customs Organization. Trade logistics typically involve packaging in rolls secured with moisture-barrier wrapping to prevent hydrolytic degradation during transit. Standard preservation methods include desiccant application and storage in climate-controlled containers to maintain fabric integrity. Shipping requirements emphasize protection against mechanical damage and contamination, adhering to ISO quality standards such as ISO 9001 for manufacturing consistency and ASTM D5034 for tensile testing. Accurate HS classification under 580632 facilitates tariff determination, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance, streamlining international trade operations for importers, customs brokers, and compliance officers.
