Ring light HS Code description
Ring light harmonized system code
Product Overview The ring light, classified under HS Code 940542, is a specialized illumination device designed to provide uniform, shadow-free lighting primarily for photographic, video, and inspection applications. Typically constructed with a circular array of LED or fluorescent lamps housed within a durable, lightweight frame, these devices feature adjustable brightness levels and color temperature settings to ensure optimal lighting conditions. Physical specifications often include diameters ranging from 10 cm to over 45 cm, power ratings between 5W and 50W, and a color rendering index (CRI) exceeding 80 to ensure accurate color representation. This product falls within subcategories of HS Code 940542 that cover electric lamps and lighting fittings, particularly those designed for specialized lighting purposes. Commercially, ring lights are extensively utilized in retail displays, professional photography studios, cosmetic and medical examination settings, as well as quality control processes in manufacturing lines. Their competitive advantage lies in providing consistent illumination in compact form factors, enhancing visual clarity and product presentation while meeting stringent quality and durability standards demanded by international markets. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The ring light is classified under the Harmonized System (HS) Code 940542, where Chapter 94 pertains to "Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings," Heading 9405 covers "Lamps and lighting fittings including searchlights and spotlights and parts thereof, not elsewhere specified or included," and Subheading 940542 specifically designates "Electric lamps and lighting fittings, excluding those used for lighting public open spaces or thoroughfares." This classification is based on the product’s function as an electric lighting apparatus designed for specialized, non-public lighting applications. Standard trade practices for ring lights include packaging in anti-static, impact-resistant cartons with internal cushioning to prevent damage during transit. Preservation typically involves moisture barrier materials to protect electronic components from humidity. Shipping requirements mandate compliance with international electrical safety standards, including CE and RoHS certifications, to facilitate customs clearance. Quality standards emphasize adherence to IEC 60598 for luminaire safety and IEC 62471 for photobiological safety, ensuring the product meets global regulatory frameworks and supports seamless import/export operations in alignment with WTO and harmonized customs documentation protocols.
