Product Overview Safety boots classified under HS Code 640340 are specialized footwear designed to provide enhanced protection in industrial and commercial environments. These boots are constructed primarily of rubber or plastics, incorporating safety features such as slip-resistant soles, steel or composite toe caps, and puncture-resistant midsoles to comply with occupational safety standards. Typical physical specifications include water-resistant uppers, abrasion-resistant outsoles, and reinforced heel counters, with sizes ranging from EU 36 to EU 48 to accommodate diverse workforce requirements. The product classification within 640340 encompasses subcategories based on material composition—such as vulcanized rubber boots and polymer-based safety footwear—and design variants tailored for specific hazards. These boots are extensively utilized in sectors including food processing, retail logistics, and manufacturing, where foot protection against chemical spills, sharp objects, and slippery surfaces is critical. Their market positioning emphasizes durability, compliance with international safety norms (e.g., EN ISO 20345), and adaptability to rigorous workplace conditions, offering a competitive advantage in global supply chains requiring certified personal protective equipment (PPE). HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 640340 falls under Chapter 64, which covers footwear, gaiters, and the like; specifically, Heading 6403 pertains to footwear with outer soles and uppers of rubber or plastics. The subheading 640340 delineates safety footwear with protective features such as steel or composite toe caps. This classification is justified by the material composition and the integral protective design elements that distinguish these boots from general-purpose footwear. For international trade, safety boots under this code are commonly packaged in standardized cartons with moisture-resistant liners to prevent degradation during transit. Preservation methods may include anti-fungal treatments and desiccant inserts to maintain product integrity. Shipping requirements adhere to WTO regulations, ensuring accurate documentation for customs clearance, including compliance with relevant quality standards such as ISO 20345 and ASTM F2413. Importers and customs brokers must verify conformity certificates and product testing reports to facilitate smooth cross-border transactions, aligning with harmonized tariff schedules and trade compliance protocols.
