Safety shoes HS Code description

Safety shoes harmonized system code

Product Overview Safety Shoes, classified under the Harmonized System (HS) Code 6401, are protective footwear explicitly designed to safeguard the wearer from occupational hazards. These shoes possess distinctive characteristics, including oil-resistant, anti-static, and slip-resistant soles, steel toe caps for impact protection, and insulating material for temperature control. Under HS Code 6401, Safety Shoes can be further categorized into waterproof footwear (6401.10) and other footwear (6401.92 and 6401.99), with the latter two subcategories including boots, shoes, and other footwear that are not waterproof. These products are extensively used across various industries such as food service, retail, and processing industries, where employee safety is paramount. The value proposition of Safety Shoes lies in their ability to provide essential protection, reduce workplace injuries, and comply with international safety standards, thereby offering a competitive advantage to businesses prioritizing worker health and safety. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Safety Shoes are positioned under the HS Code 6401 structure, with the full six-digit code being 6401.10 or 6401.92/99 depending on their waterproof characteristic. The first two digits (Chapter 64) represent footwear, gaiters, and the like, while the next two digits (Heading 01) specify waterproof footwear. The last two digits (Subheading 10, 92, or 99) further classify the footwear based on its specific attributes and materials. The product is classified under this specific code due to its design and functional characteristics, intended to offer protection against various occupational hazards. As per trade considerations, Safety Shoes are commonly packaged in individual boxes to maintain their shape and quality during transit. They are preserved under dry conditions to prevent damage from moisture. Shipping requirements may vary depending on the destination country's regulations. The quality of the Safety Shoes is typically ensured by meeting international standards such as ASTM F2413-18, EN ISO 20345:2011, and AS/NZS 2210.3:2009, among others, which dictate specific safety, design, and performance requirements.
