Satin ribbon HS Code description
Satin ribbon harmonized system code
Product Overview Satin ribbon classified under HS Code 580632 is defined as a woven textile ribbon featuring a glossy, smooth surface on one or both sides, typically manufactured from synthetic fibers such as polyester or nylon. The ribbons are produced through advanced weaving techniques that impart a satin weave, resulting in high tensile strength, uniform width tolerances (commonly ranging from 3mm to 50mm), and consistent color fastness. This product category under 580632 includes ribbons that are further processed by dyeing, printing, or metallization to enhance aesthetic and functional properties. Subcategories within this HS Code cover various forms such as single-faced, double-faced, and metallic satin ribbons, differentiated by surface finish and fiber composition. Commercially, satin ribbons are extensively utilized in packaging for food service, confectionery, and retail sectors due to their decorative appeal and durability. Additionally, they serve functional roles in garment manufacturing and industrial processing for bundling and labeling. The product’s market positioning emphasizes reliability in standardized dimension control and compliance with international safety standards, making it a preferred choice for importers and exporters seeking consistent quality in global supply chains. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete Harmonized System (HS) Code for satin ribbon is 580632, where Chapter 58 pertains to “Special Woven Fabrics; Tufted Textiles; Lace; Tapestries; Trimmings; Embroidery,” Heading 5806 designates “Narrow Woven Fabrics, Other Than Goods of Heading 5807,” and Subheading 580632 specifically identifies “Narrow woven fabrics of synthetic fibers, containing 85% or more by weight of synthetic filament yarn.” This classification is justified based on the fabric composition, weaving method, and width parameters consistent with WTO nomenclature. Trade considerations include packaging in moisture-resistant rolls or spools, often wrapped with protective films to prevent contamination and damage during transit. Preservation methods typically involve controlled humidity environments to maintain dimensional stability and surface integrity. Shipping requirements adhere to international freight standards, ensuring compliance with customs documentation protocols such as Certificates of Origin and material safety data where applicable. Quality standards conform to ISO textile measurement norms, including tensile strength values exceeding 15 N/mm² and colorfastness ratings of at least 4 on the Blue Wool Scale, aligning with global trade compliance and facilitating seamless customs clearance.
