Shaving cream & after shave lotion HS Code description

Shaving cream & after shave lotion harmonized system code

Product Overview Shaving Cream and After Shave Lotion, classified under HS Code 330710, are personal care formulations primarily designed for skin preparation and post-shaving treatment. Shaving Cream is a semi-solid emulsion, typically composed of surfactants, emollients, and moisturizers, formulated to soften facial hair and protect the skin during shaving. After Shave Lotion is a liquid solution containing antiseptic agents, fragrances, and skin-conditioning ingredients intended to soothe and disinfect the skin post-shave. Both products exhibit specific physical characteristics such as viscosity (Shaving Cream: 50,000–150,000 cP) and pH balance (After Shave Lotion: 4.5–6.5) to ensure efficacy and user safety. Under HS Code 330710, these items are further categorized by formulation type (cream, gel, or lotion) and functional additives (e.g., antibacterial, fragrance-free). Their commercial applications span retail distribution, personal grooming services, and hospitality sectors. Positioned as essential grooming commodities, these products comply with cosmetic safety standards, offering consistent quality and compatibility with various skin types, thus supporting broad-market penetration and facilitating international trade. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 330710 falls within Chapter 33 (“Essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations”), Heading 3307 (“Pre-shave, shaving or after-shave preparations, personal deodorants, and antiperspirants”), specifically designated for “Pre-shave, shaving or after-shave preparations” at the six-digit level. This classification is based on the formulation’s intended use and chemical composition, distinguishing it from other cosmetic and toiletry products. Trade professionals typically handle these products in standardized packaging such as aerosol cans (for shaving creams), plastic tubes, or plastic bottles (for after shave lotions), with net weights ranging from 50 ml to 250 ml. Preservation methods include sealed, airtight containers to prevent microbial contamination and maintain product integrity during transport. Shipping protocols adhere to international regulations concerning flammable or pressurized contents where applicable. Quality standards conform to ISO 22716 GMP guidelines and relevant regional cosmetic regulatory frameworks, ensuring product safety, labeling accuracy, and traceability. Compliance with WTO agreements and harmonized customs documentation facilitates smooth cross-border transactions and accurate tariff application.
