Sneakers HS Code description

Sneakers harmonized system code

Product Overview Sneakers, under the HS Code 6404, are defined as footwear with rubber or plastic outer soles and textile uppers, designed primarily for sports or other physical activities. These sneakers come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, showcasing key characteristics like lightweight construction, breathable fabric upper, cushioned insole, and durable rubber outsole. They may feature additional performance-enhancing features such as supportive heel counters, flexible forefoot, and specially designed tread patterns for optimal traction. The HS Code 6404 encompasses various subcategories, including athletic shoes, tennis shoes, basketball shoes, training shoes, and casual sneakers. They serve vast commercial applications, predominantly seen in retail sectors, sports industries, and fashion outlets. Their value proposition lies in their blend of comfort, functionality, and style, offering competitive advantages in terms of design versatility, material quality, and pricing diversity. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The full 6-digit HS code for sneakers is 6404.11-6404.19, with Chapter 64 representing footwear, Heading 04 for footwear with outer soles of rubber or plastics, and Subheadings 11-19 providing further specification for footwear with textile uppers. The classification rationale is grounded in the product's material composition and functional design. In terms of trade considerations, sneakers are typically packaged in individual boxes to prevent damage, then packed into larger cartons for shipping. Preservation methods include moisture-absorbing packets inside the shoebox to prevent mold and mildew. Shipping requires careful handling to ensure product integrity. Quality standards encompass both the product's physical attributes, such as durability, comfort, and design, as well as compliance with international trade regulations, including safety, health, and environmental standards. This description aligns with WTO and customs documentation standards, employing precise technical terminology and measurable attributes, ensuring accurate customs classification and facilitating trade documentation.
