Textile - fabric samples HS Code description
Textile - fabric samples harmonized system code
Product Overview Textile - Fabric Samples classified under HS Code 630790 refer to small-scale representative swatches of textile materials primarily used for evaluation, quality inspection, and selection purposes in international trade. These samples encompass various fabric types, including woven, knitted, and non-woven textiles, exhibiting diverse fiber compositions such as cotton, polyester, wool, and blends. Typically, these samples are produced with standard dimensions ranging from 10 cm x 10 cm to 30 cm x 30 cm, ensuring consistency for comparative analysis. The processing levels vary from greige goods (unprocessed fabrics) to fully finished textiles featuring treatments like dyeing, printing, or coating, adhering to specified quality standards such as colorfastness, tensile strength, and dimensional stability. HS Code 630790 includes subcategories covering fabric samples of synthetic fibers, vegetable fibers, and animal fibers, facilitating precise product classification. Commercially, these fabric samples serve critical roles in sectors such as apparel manufacturing, interior textiles, and industrial processing by enabling buyers, designers, and quality controllers to verify texture, color, and performance prior to bulk procurement. Their value proposition lies in minimizing procurement risks and expediting decision-making processes within global supply chains. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 630790 is structured as follows: Chapter 63 (Textiles made up articles; sets; worn clothing and worn textile articles; rags), Heading 07 (Other made-up articles, including dress patterns), and Subheading 90 (Samples of fabrics). This classification is predicated on the product’s nature as non-commercial quantities intended exclusively for evaluation rather than sale as finished goods. The designation under 630790 differentiates fabric samples from full-scale textile products to comply with international customs and trade regulations. Typical packaging for these samples involves protective envelopes or rigid folders that prevent contamination and physical damage, often accompanied by detailed technical data sheets. Preservation methods emphasize protection from moisture, UV exposure, and mechanical stress to maintain fabric integrity during transit. Shipping requirements prioritize traceability and compliance with international standards such as ISO 9001 for quality management and adherence to WTO Agreement on Customs Valuation. Quality standards monitored include fiber content verification, dimensional accuracy within ±2%, and defect-free surface criteria. This classification supports streamlined customs clearance, accurate tariff application, and uniform documentation essential for import/export businesses, customs brokers, and trade compliance officers engaged in global textile commerce.
