Tipper truck HS Code description

Tipper truck harmonized system code

Product Overview The tipper truck classified under HS Code 870410 is a specialized heavy-duty vehicle designed primarily for the transportation and controlled unloading of bulk materials. This category encompasses motor vehicles configured as dump trucks, equipped with hydraulic or mechanical tipping mechanisms enabling the rear, front, or side bed to be raised for efficient discharge of payloads. Key physical specifications typically include a gross vehicle weight ranging from 10 to 40 metric tonnes, reinforced steel chassis, high-torque diesel engines conforming to Euro VI or equivalent emission standards, and robust suspension systems optimized for off-road and construction environments. Processing levels involve advanced assembly lines ensuring compliance with international safety and durability standards, including ISO 9001 quality management systems. Subcategories within HS Code 870410 differentiate tipper trucks based on payload capacity, axle configuration (e.g., 4x2, 6x4), and tipping mechanism type (rear, front, side). Commercially, these vehicles are integral to construction, mining, infrastructure projects, and waste management sectors, facilitating efficient bulk material handling and logistical operations. Their market positioning is reinforced by a balance of operational reliability, fuel efficiency, and adaptability to diverse working conditions, offering significant value in large-scale material transport and site management. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications HS Code 870410 falls under Chapter 87 (Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock), Heading 8704 (Motor vehicles for the transport of goods), with the subheading 10 specifically designating tipper trucks. The classification rationale is grounded in the vehicle’s primary design for goods transport combined with an integrated tipping mechanism, distinguishing it from standard cargo trucks and specialized vehicles. Trade considerations for tipper trucks include packaging protocols that emphasize protection of hydraulic components and electronic systems, often involving partial disassembly or securing movable parts to prevent transit damage. Preservation methods focus on corrosion-resistant coatings and moisture barriers to withstand varied shipping environments, including containerized and roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) transport. Shipping requirements mandate compliance with international maritime safety standards (e.g., IMO regulations) and adherence to customs documentation protocols, including accurate Harmonized System declarations and certification of origin. Quality standards applicable encompass compliance with UNECE vehicle regulations, ISO 14001 environmental management, and rigorous factory acceptance testing to ensure operational integrity. Detailed technical documentation supports customs classification, facilitating smooth import/export processing aligned with WTO trade facilitation agreements and harmonized tariff schedules.

Tipper truck Chapter Note

1.- This Chapter does not cover railway or tramway rolling-stock designed solely for running on rails. 2.- For the purposes of this Chapter, “tractors” means vehicles constructed essentially for hauling or pushing another vehicle, appliance or load, whether or not they contain subsidiary provision for the transport, in connection with the main use of the tractor, of tools, seeds, fertilisers or other goods. Machines and working tools designed for fitting to tractors of heading 87.01 as interchangeable equipment remain classified in their respective headings even if presented with the tractor, and whether or not mounted on it. 3.- Motor chassis fitted with cabs fall in headings 87.02 to 87.04, and not in heading 87.06. 4.- Heading 87.12 includes all children's bicycles. Other children's cycles fall in heading 95.03.
