Tool kit HS Code description

Tool kit harmonized system code

Product Overview The tool kit classified under HS Code 820600 encompasses sets of hand tools, including hammers, spanners, screwdrivers, pliers, and similar implements, specifically designed for mechanical, construction, and maintenance applications. These kits are typically composed of high-grade alloy steel or carbon steel, subjected to heat treatment processes such as quenching and tempering to ensure enhanced hardness, durability, and corrosion resistance. Standard configurations include a defined number of tools ranging from 10 to 50 pieces, housed in molded plastic or metal cases for organized storage and transport. Within the HS Code 820600 classification, subcategories cover interchangeable hand tools with non-electric drive mechanisms, such as spanners and wrenches (82060010), screwdrivers (82060020), and hammers (82060030). Commercially, these tool kits are essential in industrial maintenance, automotive repair, food processing equipment servicing, and retail hardware supply chains. Their robust construction and comprehensive tool assortment position them competitively in the market, providing importers and distributors with reliable, standardized product offerings aligned with international quality benchmarks. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 820600 falls under Chapter 82 (Tool, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal; parts thereof) and specifically the heading 8206, which designates interchangeable hand tools with non-electric drive. The subheading 820600 precisely identifies sets or assortments of such tools packed together. This classification is based on the tool kit’s composition of multiple hand tools designed for mechanical operations, excluding electric or power-driven equipment, thereby aligning with WTO Harmonized System nomenclature. Trade considerations for these tool kits include packaging in durable, tamper-evident cases with moisture-resistant linings to prevent corrosion during maritime or air freight. Typical packaging units range from single kits to bulk cartons containing multiple sets, conforming to international shipping dimension and weight regulations. Compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems and ASTM standards for material hardness and dimensional accuracy is standard practice. These specifications ensure seamless customs clearance, conformity with import/export documentation protocols, and adherence to global trade compliance requirements.
