Truck crane HS Code description

Truck crane harmonized system code

Product Overview Truck cranes classified under HS Code 870510 are specialized mobile lifting machines mounted on motor vehicles, designed for heavy-duty hoisting and material handling operations. These vehicles combine the transport capabilities of trucks with the functional versatility of cranes, enabling on-site lifting and relocation of heavy loads. Key specifications typically include a maximum lifting capacity ranging from 10 to 100 metric tons, telescopic or lattice boom configurations, hydraulic or electromechanical hoisting systems, and a robust chassis designed for stability and mobility across varied terrains. The product encompasses several subcategories such as truck-mounted hydraulic cranes, truck-mounted lattice boom cranes, and truck-mounted telescopic boom cranes, each tailored to specific operational requirements. Commercially, truck cranes serve pivotal roles in construction, logistics, infrastructure development, and industrial maintenance sectors, facilitating efficient load handling in food processing plants, retail distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities. Their competitive advantage lies in mobility, rapid deployment, and integration with existing fleet operations, supporting streamlined workflow and cost-effective project execution. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 870510 falls under Chapter 87 – Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling stock, specifically within Heading 8705, which covers special purpose motor vehicles, including cranes mounted on trucks. The six-digit structure is: 87 (Chapter: Vehicles), 05 (Heading: Special purpose motor vehicles), 10 (Subheading: Cranes mounted on motor vehicles). This classification is justified by the product’s design as a motor vehicle equipped with integral crane mechanisms, differentiating it from non-motorized cranes or separate lifting equipment. Trade considerations for truck cranes involve packaging methods that prioritize corrosion prevention, including the application of protective coatings and secure fastening of movable components to withstand transit stresses. Preservation standards comply with ISO 8501 for surface preparation and ISO 12944 for paint systems to ensure durability during shipment. Shipping often requires specialized transport permits due to oversize dimensions and weight, adherence to IMO regulations for maritime freight, and compliance with customs documentation standards aligned with WTO trade facilitation agreements. Quality certification typically references ISO 9001 for manufacturing processes and adherence to EN 13000 for mobile cranes safety requirements, ensuring conformity with international trade and safety standards.

Truck crane Chapter Note

1.- This Chapter does not cover railway or tramway rolling-stock designed solely for running on rails. 2.- For the purposes of this Chapter, “tractors” means vehicles constructed essentially for hauling or pushing another vehicle, appliance or load, whether or not they contain subsidiary provision for the transport, in connection with the main use of the tractor, of tools, seeds, fertilisers or other goods. Machines and working tools designed for fitting to tractors of heading 87.01 as interchangeable equipment remain classified in their respective headings even if presented with the tractor, and whether or not mounted on it. 3.- Motor chassis fitted with cabs fall in headings 87.02 to 87.04, and not in heading 87.06. 4.- Heading 87.12 includes all children's bicycles. Other children's cycles fall in heading 95.03.
