Tweezers HS Code description
Tweezers harmonized system code
Product Overview Tweezers classified under HS Code 820320 are precision hand tools designed for grasping, holding, or manipulating small objects. These instruments typically feature two slender arms joined at one end, constructed from stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant alloys, with lengths ranging from 80 to 150 millimeters. Their manufacturing involves precision stamping, machining, and surface finishing processes to ensure durability, corrosion resistance, and ergonomic handling. HS Code 820320 encompasses subcategories such as cosmetic tweezers, surgical tweezers, and fine mechanical tweezers, each differentiated by design specifications and intended applications. Commercially, these tweezers serve diverse industries including food service for handling delicate ingredients, retail for cosmetic applications, and manufacturing or processing sectors requiring precision component manipulation. Market positioning is underpinned by the combination of robust material quality, precision engineering, and compliance with international standards, offering importers and exporters products that meet stringent operational and regulatory requirements. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete 6-digit HS Code for tweezers is 820320, situated within Chapter 82 (Tools, implements, cutlery, spoons and forks, of base metal), Heading 8203 (Files, rasps, and other tools with cutting edges; tools for working in the hand, pneumatic, hydraulic or with self-contained electric or nonelectric motor), and Subheading 820320 specifically covering tweezers and similar hand tools. Classification under 820320 is justified by the product’s design as a hand-operated tool without cutting edges, primarily used for gripping. Trade considerations include packaging in anti-corrosive, moisture-resistant materials such as sealed polybags or blister packs, often grouped in cartons conforming to international shipping standards. Preservation methods are minimal but emphasize rust prevention during transit. Quality standards adhere to ISO 13485 for medical-grade tweezers or ASTM F899 for general use, ensuring product consistency and safety. Compliance with WTO harmonized system protocols and customs documentation requirements facilitates smooth cross-border transactions and accurate tariff applications.
