Product Overview
Product Overview
Used - Second Hand Clothing classified under HS Code 630900 encompasses pre-owned garments and apparel articles that have been previously worn or utilized. These items typically include outerwear, shirts, trousers, dresses, and other fabric-based clothing articles composed predominantly of textile materials. Physical specifications vary widely, with garments commonly subjected to minimal processing such as cleaning, sorting, and minor repairs to ensure usability and marketability. Quality attributes depend on prior usage, but products are generally graded based on fabric integrity, absence of significant defects, and overall wear condition. The HS Code 630900 further subdivides into categories including knitted or crocheted clothing, non-knitted outer garments, and accessories such as hats and scarves, facilitating granular classification. Commercially, these goods serve diverse applications ranging from resale in retail outlets specializing in affordable apparel, charitable distribution, to raw material sourcing for textile recycling industries. The value proposition centers on cost-efficiency, sustainability through reuse, and access to diverse styles and materials, positioning these products competitively within circular economy models and emerging markets.
HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications
The HS Code 630900 is structured as follows: Chapter 63 covers “Other Made-Up Textile Articles; Sets; Worn Clothing and Worn Textile Articles,” with Heading 6309 specifically designating “Worn Clothing and Other Worn Textile Articles.” The 6-digit code 630900 identifies used clothing articles as distinct from new textile products, reflecting their prior usage status. Classification under this code is justified by the nature of the goods being worn, which affects valuation, tariff application, and import regulations. Trade considerations for these products include standardized packaging such as bales or cartons to optimize space and protect contents, with preservation methods focused on moisture control and pest prevention to maintain fabric quality during transit. Shipping typically adheres to bulk containerization standards, with documentation requiring precise declaration of condition and origin to ensure compliance with WTO rules and customs protocols. Quality standards often align with ISO textile testing methods to assess fabric strength and contamination levels, supporting accurate classification and facilitating smooth customs clearance across international borders.
