Used shoes HS Code description

Used shoes harmonized system code

Product Overview Used shoes classified under HS Code 630900 refer to previously worn footwear that is repurposed for resale or reuse in international markets. These items encompass a range of shoe types including casual, formal, athletic, and specialty footwear, exhibiting various degrees of wear and refurbishment. Physical specifications typically include material composition (leather, synthetic, textile), size ranges compliant with international standards, and structural integrity assessed by sole condition, upper wear, and fastening mechanisms. Processing levels vary from minimally cleaned to professionally restored products that meet defined quality thresholds for resale. The HS Code 630900 also covers subcategories such as used footwear with outer soles of rubber or plastics, leather, or textile materials, each with distinct commercial applications. These shoes serve as cost-effective options within retail sectors, second-hand markets, and charitable redistribution channels, offering sustainable alternatives in footwear consumption. The value proposition lies in balancing affordability with acceptable quality, catering primarily to markets with demand for budget-conscious or environmentally sustainable footwear solutions. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 630900 falls under Chapter 63 – “Other Made Up Textile Articles; Sets; Worn Clothing and Worn Textile Articles” with Heading 6309 specifically denoting “Worn clothing and other worn articles.” The six-digit code 630900 precisely categorizes used shoes, differentiating them from new footwear classified under Chapter 64. This classification is justified by the product’s used condition and textile or leather composition, aligning with WTO Harmonized System nomenclature. Trade considerations include standardized packaging in bulk bales or cartons, often vacuum-sealed or wrapped to minimize contamination and preserve product quality during transit. Preservation methods emphasize moisture control and pest prevention to comply with international shipping protocols. Quality standards require adherence to import country regulations concerning hygiene and product safety, with inspection certificates frequently mandated. Documentation must reflect accurate product descriptions, origin, and condition to facilitate customs compliance, tariff application, and statistical reporting, ensuring seamless cross-border trade consistent with global trade frameworks.
