Wd 40 spray HS Code description
Wd 40 spray harmonized system code
Product Overview WD-40 Spray is a multi-purpose lubricant, penetrating oil, and moisture displacer classified under HS Code 340319, which pertains to lubricating preparations and other preparations containing lubricants but not including those specifically identified elsewhere. This product typically presents as a clear, light yellow aerosol spray with a low viscosity hydrocarbon solvent base, formulated to provide corrosion protection, lubrication, and water displacement on metal and mechanical components. Manufactured through refined solvent blending with additives such as anti-corrosion agents, anti-wear compounds, and emulsifiers, WD-40 Spray meets industrial-grade quality standards for consistent performance. Within HS Code 340319, subcategories include general lubricants, penetrating oils, and specialty aerosol formulations, with WD-40 positioned as a versatile penetrating lubricant suitable for maintenance and repair applications across food processing plants, retail hardware, automotive service centers, and manufacturing facilities. Its ability to reduce friction, prevent rust, and loosen seized parts underpins its widespread commercial adoption and competitive advantage in operational efficiency and asset protection. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete HS Code for WD-40 Spray is 340319, where Chapter 34 covers “Soap, Organic Surface-Active Agents, Washing Preparations,” Heading 3403 addresses “Lubricating preparations (including cutting-oil preparations, bolt or nut release preparations),” and Subheading 340319 specifically denotes “Other preparations containing lubricants, excluding those in 340320 or 340330.” WD-40 Spray’s composition of hydrocarbon solvents and specialized additives aligns precisely with this classification given its function as a multipurpose lubricant not primarily intended as a grease or cutting oil. Trade considerations include packaging predominantly in pressurized aerosol cans ranging from 150 ml to 500 ml, designed for safe transport under UN regulations for aerosols (Class 2.1 flammable gases). Preservation methods focus on corrosion resistance and maintaining chemical stability under variable temperature conditions during international transit. WD-40 Spray complies with ISO 9001 quality management standards and meets relevant international safety and environmental regulations, including REACH and GHS labeling requirements. This classification and associated specifications ensure accurate customs declarations, tariff assessments, and streamlined clearance processes in global trade environments.
