Window glass HS Code description
Window glass harmonized system code
Product Overview Window Glass, classified under Harmonized System (HS) Code 7005, refers to non-wired float glass, a type of molten glass that has been cooled slowly to eliminate internal stresses and achieve a uniform thickness. This product is characterized by its smooth, glossy surface, high clarity, and excellent light transmission. Within HS Code 7005, the product is further classified based on its thickness and color, including clear, tinted, reflective, or low-e coated variants. Window Glass finds widespread commercial applications across various sectors such as construction, automotive, and interior design, serving as a critical component in windows, doors, partitions, and automobile windshields. Its competitive advantage lies in its superior durability, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal, making it a preferred choice for modern architectural and automotive designs. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Window Glass falls under Chapter 70 (Glass and Glassware), Heading 05 (Float glass and surface ground or polished glass, in sheets), within the full 6-digit code 7005. This classification is based on the product's defining characteristics and production process, specifically, the floating method used to create a uniform and flawless glass surface. Trade considerations for Window Glass include packaging in wooden crates or end-caps to ensure protection during transit. Preservation typically involves the use of protective interleaving powder to prevent scratches or damage. Shipping requirements may vary based on the size and weight of the glass, with larger or heavier orders possibly necessitating the use of specialized freight services. Quality standards for Window Glass are high, with many importing countries requiring compliance with their respective national standards or international standards such as ISO and ASTM. Accuracy in the product description, classification, and documentation is crucial in ensuring smooth customs procedures and adherence to World Trade Organization trade standards.
