Wooden beads HS Code description
Wooden beads harmonized system code
Product Overview Wooden beads classified under HS Code 442199 are defined as small, shaped objects crafted primarily from processed wood materials, intended for use in decorative, artisanal, and industrial applications. These beads typically exhibit uniform dimensions ranging from 2 mm to 20 mm in diameter, with variations in shape including spherical, cylindrical, and faceted forms. Manufactured through precision lathe-turning, molding, or cutting processes, they undergo surface finishing treatments such as sanding, polishing, or lacquering to ensure smooth texture and dimensional stability. The HS Code 442199 encompasses subcategories including untreated wooden beads, painted or varnished variants, and those combined with metal or other materials. Commercially, these beads serve as essential components in jewelry manufacturing, handicrafts, garment embellishment, and packaging ornamentation. Their durability, natural aesthetic, and adaptability position them competitively in global markets, catering to both small-scale artisans and large-scale industrial processors requiring standardized raw materials. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete HS Code for wooden beads is 442199, which falls under Chapter 44 (Wood and Articles of Wood), Heading 4421 (Other Articles of Wood), and Subheading 442199 (Other Articles of Wood, Not Elsewhere Specified). This classification is justified by the product's composition and its non-structural, ornamental nature distinct from furniture or construction components. Trade considerations for wooden beads include packaging in moisture-resistant, ventilated containers or polyethylene-lined cartons to prevent fungal growth and deformation during transit. Preservation methods often involve kiln drying to achieve a moisture content below 12%, ensuring dimensional stability and resistance to pest infestation. Shipping typically adheres to international standards such as ISPM 15 for wood packaging materials. Quality standards align with ISO 9001-certified manufacturing processes and ASTM specifications for wood density and finish quality. Detailed product descriptions and accurate HS coding promote compliance with WTO regulations and facilitate customs clearance, minimizing delays in international logistics.
