Wooden doors HS Code description

Wooden doors harmonized system code

Product Overview Wooden Doors classified under HS Code 441829 refer to finished or semi-finished doors predominantly constructed from wood or wood-based materials, designed for installation in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. These doors exhibit key characteristics such as standardized dimensions typically ranging from 1980 mm to 2100 mm in height and 700 mm to 1000 mm in width, with thicknesses varying between 35 mm to 45 mm. Constructed through processes including kiln drying, precision machining, veneering, and surface finishing (e.g., laminating or painting), these doors emphasize structural integrity, durability, and aesthetic uniformity. The HS Code 441829 encompasses various subcategories such as solid wooden doors, veneered doors, and molded panel doors, each differentiated by construction techniques and surface treatments. Commercially, these doors are integral to sectors including food service establishments, retail outlets, and processing plants, where compliance with hygiene and safety standards is essential. Positioned competitively, wooden doors under this classification offer a balance of cost-efficiency, thermal insulation, and adaptability to diverse architectural requirements, making them a preferred choice in both domestic and international markets. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The HS Code 441829 is structured as follows: Chapter 44 (Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal), Heading 4418 (Doors and their frames and thresholds), and Subheading 441829 (Other wooden doors). This precise classification aligns with the product’s material composition and functional application, distinguishing it from metal or composite door categories. The rationale for this classification is based on compliance with the Harmonized System’s criteria, emphasizing the primary material (wood) and product form (door). Trade considerations include packaging in reinforced crates or palletized units, often with protective wrapping to prevent moisture ingress and mechanical damage during transit. Preservation methods may involve application of anti-fungal coatings and moisture barriers to maintain product integrity. Shipping requirements mandate adherence to ISPM 15 standards for wooden packaging materials to prevent pest contamination. Quality standards conform to ISO 9001 manufacturing processes and may include certifications such as FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) for sustainable sourcing. These specifications ensure seamless customs clearance, adherence to WTO trade regulations, and facilitate accurate tariff classification in international trade documentation.
