Wooden shelf harmonized system code
Product Overview The wooden shelf classified under HS Code 940360 refers to a flat, horizontal storage unit constructed primarily from wood or wood-based materials, designed to support and organize goods or materials in various commercial environments. Typically fabricated through precision cutting, sanding, and finishing processes, these shelves exhibit standard dimensions ranging from 600 mm to 1200 mm in length, 200 mm to 400 mm in depth, and thicknesses between 15 mm and 25 mm, ensuring structural integrity and load-bearing capacity up to 50 kg per shelf. The product encompasses various subcategories under 940360, including wooden shelves with fixed brackets, adjustable shelving units, and modular shelf components tailored for integration into larger storage systems. Key quality attributes include moisture-resistant coatings, smooth surface finishes compliant with ISO 9001 production standards, and durability against wear in controlled indoor environments. Commercially, these wooden shelves find extensive application in food service establishments for organized storage of supplies, retail outlets for merchandise display, and processing industries requiring systematic inventory management. Market positioning emphasizes the balance of cost-effectiveness, ease of installation, and compliance with international safety regulations, providing a reliable shelving solution adaptable to diverse trade and operational requirements. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The wooden shelf is classified under HS Code 940360, which falls within Chapter 94, covering “Furniture; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings,” specifically under Heading 9403, “Other furniture and parts thereof,” with Subheading 940360 denoting “Wooden furniture.” This classification is justified by the product’s primary material composition (wood) and its functional design as a furniture component intended for storage applications. Trade considerations for this product include packaging in reinforced, moisture-resistant cartons or wooden crates to prevent damage during transit, with internal cushioning to mitigate impact shocks. Preservation methods involve kiln drying of wood components to maintain moisture content below 12% to inhibit fungal growth and dimensional distortion. Shipping typically adheres to containerized freight standards, with palletization to optimize space and facilitate handling. Compliance with international quality standards such as ISO 14001 for environmental management and adherence to WTO trade facilitation agreements ensures streamlined customs clearance and consistent documentation. The product’s specifications and classification support accurate tariff application, import-export reporting, and harmonized customs procedures across international markets.
