Wrench - torque wrench HS Code description

Wrench - torque wrench harmonized system code

Product Overview A Torque Wrench, classified under HS Code 8204, is a specialized tool designed to precisely apply a specific torque to a fastener such as a nut or bolt. The key characteristics of a Torque Wrench include its robust construction, calibrated accuracy, and adjustable torque settings, which range from light to heavy duty applications. It is typically made of high-quality, durable materials like steel, ensuring longevity and reliability. The Torque Wrench under HS Code 8204 falls into the subcategory of "Hand-operated spanners and wrenches," which may include adjustable, non-adjustable, and torque-controlled wrenches. Commercially, it is widely used in automotive, manufacturing, and construction sectors where precise torque control is essential, as well as in home improvement and DIY projects. The value proposition of a Torque Wrench lies in its precision, durability, and versatility in handling a wide range of fastening tasks. HS Code Classification & Trade Specifications The complete HS Code structure for the Torque Wrench is 8204.20 – the Chapter (82) indicates tools, implements, cutlery, spoons, and forks of base metal; parts thereof of base metal, while the Heading (04) covers hand-operated spanners and wrenches. The product falls under this specific code due to its hand-operated nature and specific function as a wrench. When considering trade, Torque Wrenches are commonly packaged individually in protective casing to prevent any damage or calibration disruption. They are often shipped in bulk via sea freight due to their weight and durability. Adherence to internationally recognized quality standards such as ISO 6789 ensures the product's accuracy and reliability, which is a critical factor in global trade. Proper documentation and classification under the correct HS Code support a smooth customs clearance process, maintaining consistency with international trade classification systems.
