Dolls HS Code description
Dolls harmonized system code
Product Overview Dolls classified under HTS 9503.00 are articulated or non‑articulated figurines designed principally as playthings or collectibles, consisting of heads, bodies and appendages manufactured from plastics (PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene), textile fabrics, composite materials, rubber or wood. Typical physical specifications include unit weights from ~50 g (small plastic figures) up to ~1.5 kg (complex electronic or plush dolls), overall heights commonly 10–60 cm, and component dimensional tolerances often ±2–5 mm for molded parts. Processing levels range from basic molded/stitched assemblies to finished units with painted features, rooted hair, sewn clothing, or integrated electronic modules (sound/motion). Quality attributes relevant to trade include color fastness, seam tensile strength, joint torque limits, and chemical compliance (lead and phthalate limits). Within HTS 9503.00 subcategories practitioners recognize dolls by primary material (plastic, textile, composite), functionality (mechanical, electronic), accessories (clothing, carriages), and collectible/limited‑edition status. Commercial applications cover retail toy distribution, licensed merchandise, educational/therapeutic aids, film/prop supply chains, and aftermarket refurbishment and re‑packaging for e‑commerce. HTS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Full HTS structure: Chapter 95 (Toys, games and sports requisites) — Heading 9503 (Tricycles, scooters, pedal cars and similar wheeled toys; dolls' carriages; dolls; other toys) — Subheading 9503.00 (Dolls and similar toys). Classification rationale: products designed principally for play or collection and manufactured as complete figures fall under 9503.00 rather than headings for industrial parts or decorative objects; classification depends on material composition, intended use, and whether electronic functions alter tariff treatment. For customs and logistics provide unit net weight, gross weight per master carton (commonly 10–25 kg), carton dimensions (longest side typically 40–80 cm) and units per carton (typically 12–72). Common packaging: inner polybag/polywrap, carded/blister packs for small figures, individual retail boxes for plush/collector dolls, and master cartons palletized (4–6 cartons/layer, 4–6 layers). Preservation/shipping: humidity control for textiles, temperature avoidance to prevent PVC deformation, ISPM‑15 for wooden pallets/parts, and ESD protection for electronic modules. Applicable standards/regulatory controls include HTSUS 9503.00 entries, CPSIA (lead, phthalates), ASTM F963, EN 71 series and FCC/IEC requirements for electronic components.
