Rolex watches HS Code description
Rolex watches harmonized system code
Product Overview Rolex wristwatches covered by HTS code 9101.21 are defined as self-winding (automatic) mechanical wristwatches with cases of precious metal or of metal clad with precious metal, intended for personal timekeeping. Key characteristics include rotor-driven automatic movements, case materials such as 18K gold or platinum (or base metal clad with precious metal), sapphire crystal, factory-fitted bracelets, and common measurable attributes: case diameters typically ~28–44 mm, power reserves ~40–70 hours, water-resistance commonly 50–300 m and individual unit weights varying by model. Processing levels include fully assembled finished watches, in-factory gem-setting and final quality-control testing. Product classifications within 9101.21 that are routinely reflected on commercial documents and customs entries include: time-only automatic wristwatches; automatics with calendar or other complications; automatic chronographs; and gem-set or engraved variants — all distinguished by case material (solid precious metal vs. metal-clad) and finished condition. Commercial applications are retail distribution through authorized dealers, after‑sales service and repairs, high‑value collateral/asset management in finance, and parts supply and refurbishment within the horology and jewelry supply chain. HTS Code Classification & Trade Specifications Complete HTS structure: Chapter 91 — Products of the watchmaking and clock‑making industry; Heading 9101 — wristwatches, pocket‑watches and other watches, including stopwatches; Subheading 9101.21 — 6‑digit HTS code 910121 — wristwatches, automatic winding, with case of precious metal or of metal clad with precious metal. Classification rationale: automatic mechanical (non‑quartz) movement plus a case constituted of or plated/clad with precious metal meets the HTSUS legal description for 9101.21. Trade considerations for customs entry and duty calculation include accurate reporting of 6‑digit HTS, model/reference and serial numbers, net and gross weight (g), material fineness (e.g., 750 for 18K), unit invoice value, and country of origin documentation (COO/manufacturer declaration). Typical packaging and preservation: individual presentation box, anti‑tarnish wrap, desiccant packs, foam inserts; shipping: insured air cargo or bonded courier with advance electronic filings (ISF for ocean, ACE entry for US imports). Quality standards referenced on documentation may include COSC chronometer certificates, ISO 22810 water‑resistance test data and applicable national hallmarks for precious metals.
